About Sarah, the Farmer

The green-thumbs started long before I was born with my great Grandma who went by Nana, then was passed down to my mom and eventually the gift of growing food was passed down to me. My great grandmother was known for always having something growing outside no matter how limited the space was. My mother, has fond memories of Nana digging up vegetables and having fresh meals made for her and her siblings.

As a Culinary School graduate my love of creating dishes was just the beginning of my love of food. I discovered I had a talent for growing food during a short stay on a family farm in the central coast of California. The simplicity of being able to pick your own food, cook it and have it nourish yourself and others was exhilarating—I was hooked. Shortly after I honed my gardening skills and volunteered at my local community garden, learning more hands on techniques.

A few years after being a hobby gardener I sought out to grow & sell at my local farmers market in Uptown Whittier. The bustling farmers markets and the community which surrounded them was attractive and I felt at home. I had found my dream career of being a farmer. Growing vegetables is not just a career for me— it’s a lifestyle.
